This is a new page on the site, that will have something to do with maps created by the members with the new editor.  Although I'm not yet sure exactly what will be here in the long run, I am starting it off by putting up a couple of screen shots of my own first two map attempts to get things going.  I know many of you are excited about the ability to make your own maps, and will help me with some ideas about what we can put here.   I'll be happy to consider all suggestions, but since this is my personal server space, please respect my right to make the final decision about what will or will not be posted.  Thanks.... Nasty

Map Screen Shots

Although the editor lets you export a BMP (bitmap) image of your map, the size is truly huge, and thus, not very manageable.  However, with a few good graphics tools you can create some screen shots of your maps that we can use here without the horrible overhead of that bmp file.  I used two programs to create the screen shots you will see here as examples.  The first, WinCapture, is a screen capture utility that I use to take a snapshot of my mini-map, and the actual 3D map, from within the editor.

Once I have taken the two snapshots, I load them into a graphics editing program called Paintshop Pro.  If you don't have a good graphics editing program you can get a shareware version of PSP on the 'net'.  PSP is made by JASC Software, and I highly recommend it as you can easily resize images, brighten or darken them, sharpen them, and lots more.  Most of the graphics you see on this site have been created, or manipulated, using PSP.

Anyway, after I loaded the snapshots into PSP, I cropped out just the mini-map and saved it as a gif file, and then cropped out just the 3D portion of the map I wanted, and saved it as another file.  The mini-map for HullyGully was resized to 129x129 pixels, to match the size of the TerminalIsle mini-map, and to make it easier to see.  On the 3D maps, I resized them to 200x160 or so, then did one (only one) sharpen on them.   TerminalIsle was also lightened a bit, as it was pretty dark.  That's about it.  Take a look at the results, and let me know what you think.

HullyGully - This is my first map attempt.  The map size is 64x64, and it supports up to 4 players.  It is probably a better rush map than anything, and features plenty of choke points, strong-arm vantage points, high plateaus, deep valleys, and open areas for the "mother of all battles", to quote that loser, what's-his-face.

HullyGully mini-map

This shot shows the mini-map view.  The red dots indicate oil deposits, while the green dots indicate base buildings.

HullyGully screen shot

This screen shot shows one of the 4 bases in HullyGully, looking out through a pass toward the center of the map.

TerminalIsle - This is my second map attempt.  The map size is 128x128, and it also supports up to 4 players.  This map is an attempt to change the typical Warzone gameplay, where you simply try to find and eliminate your opponents' bases.  Instead, the focus here is the large island in the center of the map, which will hopefully create a kind of King-of-the-Hill type game.  We'll see if that is the case or not.  There is an abundant oil supply in the center on the main island.   All the bases are purposely rather small and secluded on islands, with one opening, and two hover-launch openings.  The latter are one-way exits from your base.   This map is still under construction.

TerminalIsle mini-map

This shot shows the mini-map view.  Again, red dots are oil, green are base buidings, and blue are eye-candy such as cranes, skyscrapers, etc.

TerminalIsle screen shot

This is a screen shot taken from the main island, looking north toward the two large hover ramps and the long bridge that extends to the north shore.

ColdSteel1 - This NF-NastyAzz' third map, but it is merely playable at this stage.  He plans to make the mountain ranges, etc., more realistic, and touch up some other features.  The map size is 200x200, and it supports up to 8 players.  This map is similar to the popular Teamwar, except that terrain has been added, and the bases on each side have been divided.  There is an abundant oil supply scattered throughout the map.   This map is still under construction.
